High Powered Flashlight

Flashlight

I was reading this instructable a while back and figured I'd give it a try. I was quite impressed with the results since this thing can easily light up a darkened room or backyard or whatever you really need lit up.

You can check the link above for the parts. Basically it's just a crappy flashlight, batteries and a new bulb. I picked up a pack of two Eveready flashlights for like $3 so I could make one for myself and my parents. The bulb was $1.50 at Radio Shack, but the batteries is where this really hits the pocket book and is also the reason I hate the Shack. They always cater to the "I NEED IT NOW" crowd and charge way too much for their products. At Radio Shack the batteries cost $11 each. Don't buy them there. They're like $4.50 at Wal-Mart.

Assembly for me was pretty ghetto. I just masking taped the the batteries together and then to the bulb. I had to bend the spring in the bottom up so it would make contact with the bottom of the batteries. I can't say if this thing is comparable to a $200 flashlight, but I can guarantee you will be pleased with the results.
